Socks by Atelier Martine (5 pairs)

Your pair of socks is inspired by a sketch from the archives of Atelier Martine, the interior design studio of Paul Poiret, the French king of fashion who broke every rule! In early 20th century Paris, Poiret was a visionary designer who dared to free women from the stiff, restrictive corsets. He created clothes that allowed women to breathe, move and embrace an elegant style that felt almost like living art.

His boldness didn’t stop at clothing; with Atelier Martine, he challenged the status-quo as boldly as his fashion. At the studio, he invited young working-class girls to sketch nature around them in local parks, zoos and flower gardens. These sketches became the heartbeat of his designs, inspiring not only women’s clothing but also wallpapers, ceramics, and even hand-painted glassware. For Poiret, a modern woman’s home needed to reflect her freedom just as much as her wardrobe.
