Socks by Taeuber-Arp
These socks are inspired by a colourful geometric painting from the Swiss multi-disciplinary artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp (1889-1943). Refusing to be put in a box, she worked as a performer, painter, teacher, designer, puppet maker, dancer, sculptor, illustrator and more. She literally dabbed in everything! Her creative journey took her once to Paris, where she joined the artists' group 'Circle and Rectangle'. It greatly inspired her and it is no wonder she was all about abstract forms and shapes.
An artist most definitely cherished by her country, she is the only woman who appeared on a Swiss banknote with her portrait on the 50-franc note from 1995 to 2016.
